Snow on Wildflowers

I am struck daily by signs of resilience in this world. A child who picks themselves up and keeps on running after a fall, an older adult who continues to speak up after being dismissed in public, a pastor who preaches the gospel with boldness to a people who may not receive it, and an industry leader who reaches their team with compassion and empathy instead of fisted authority.

On a recent hike up the mountains in Targhee National Park in Wyoming, I was struck by the resilience of the wildflowers. You may have traveled to this part of the country, and so you know the terrain is hostile and unwelcoming, especially to anything beautiful. As I hiked, I reached the top of the ridge which was covered in wildflowers.
It was gorgeous and unbelievable that something so breathtaking could survive in such difficult surroundings. And then it began to snow! Snow on the wildflowers! But those brave, beautiful flowers did not cower. They stood tall and shone brightly in the snow, showing off their glory. Resilience.
When have you dared to stand tall and be resilient in difficult circumstances? How has this contributed to your self-esteem and self-empowerment? Much like those amazing wildflowers in the rough terrain on top of the mountain, you have all that you need inside of you to shine brightly, serve beautifully, and contribute to those around you.
